It has a triangular plan with a double walled enclosure, three towers and an albarrana tower. It conserves in its interior the rest of a cistern. The castle of Xio or "Castell de Xiu " in Valencian, is a defensive Arab military construction that is located in the municipality of Luchente (Province of Valencia). It was built in the 12th century, during the Almohad period. The fortress had the function of monitoring the transit of troops from the coast to the interior of the Kingdom of Valencia. Today, the most visible part is the cistern that supplied water to its inhabitants. After the Christian reconquest in the thirteenth century, it loses its defensive function and is abandoned by the passage of time.
