AIELO DE RUGAT At the foot of the castle
Few but bonuses. That's how the Aielins are, residents of Ayelo de Rugat. Friendly, generous and welcoming people who open their doors if you are looking for a place to disconnect in their town. This municipality of no more than 200 inhabitants, is at the foot of the Rugat Castle, a Muslim fortification that today hundreds of hikers visit. Agriculture first, the ceramic industry later, were the main ways of subsistence of the Aielins. To discover Ayelo de Rugat you will have to visit the Casa Rural Rafaelet, meet one of the most illustrious inhabitants of the town, the pelotari Alberto Todolí, and delve into the SL-CV 43 sender. I dream only three reasons to visit Ayelo de Rugat, if is that you have not done it yet. HISTORY Alquería Andalusí before the Conquest of the Christians, was given on May 15, 1248 to Raimon de Gayllach by Jaime I. It was an integral part of the Duchy of Gandía. After the expulsion of the Moorish in 1609 the “Carta Puebla” was granted to the new settlers on September 24, 1612. But in 1794 the place had not yet recovered demographically from the void left by the Moors, as was populated only by 35 families .
