HISTORY

Although rests of the culture of the Bronze have been found, the origin of Beniatjar is a Muslim farm, that was conquered by Jaime I and granted to Paz de Tarazona in 1258. Of Moorish population, counted in the year of the expulsion (1609) with one hundred families. Erected in barony, it belonged first to the duchy of Villahermosa and later to the Marquisate of Milan. Together with Otos, formed a Moorish vicarage that depended ecclesiastically on Rafol de Salem until 1535. Nevertheless it will not be until 1574, when it becomes independent parish.
