Stage 07 - Local Products Route - L'Olleria

The seventh stage takes place in the town of l'Olleria, where its product is glass.

Ollería is characterized by the manufacture of blown glass. The first documented news in l'Olleria of the manufacture of glass is from 1584. Pots were previously made. The manufacturing process begins by putting the raw material (recycled glass) in the oven at a temperature of around 1300 to 1350 degrees (refractory stone furnaces), the energy source used is the fuel that has replaced rosemary firewood and coal , now deprecated.

When the glass is molten it is removed with the iron rod and goes to the working chamber. Glass is worked in three ways: blown glass, with an iron reed, pressed glass with an iron plate, and harvested centrifuged glass placed inside the spinning mold. These pieces can be purchased in production factories, such as "El Mediterráneo (96220 80 16) and in some shops in the municipality. Visits to companies must be arranged.
