The hydraulic heritage of Salem is very well represented by ditches, water mines, rafts, arcades and mills. The most interesting element is undoubtedly the Elca raft, the work done is the typical Hispano-Muslim water mine, excavated in the rock to capture the birth (40 m tunnel), with three vertical wells that facilitate access to the interior and the Scouring operations. The raft where it draws water has been rendered useless since the collapses of the 1884 floods. In its time it basically fulfilled the function of providing irrigation to the gardens of the Islamic farms of Benigerví (the Casales de Monxereví and Elca (the Casals of Elca).
