HISTORY
The oldest archaeological remains known in this term have been found in the Cova del Frontó, located on the hill of the same name in the northeast foothills of the Sierra de Benicadell and correspond to a collective burial of the First Age of the Metals, belonging to the eneolitic culture. In the Sima of Salem have been fragments of Roman ceramics of late and medieval times. After the expulsion of the Moors, in 1609, the population suffered a considerable decrease. It belonged territorially to the marquises of Bèlgida and later to the dukes of Gandía.
