The Path of "Les Caigudes" of Pinet is a short, alternative route in a section of the Senda del Molló (PRV-172). The points of connection with the main path are found, on one side in the Pla de Peña, a place located a little above the Collet del Aire and on the other, in the Casa del Tío Honorio, in the place also called Rincón de Cacaueros . We can use the layout of this local path as an alternative to the normal path of the PRV-172also as a circular route leaving from Collet del Airefrom the town of Pinet. We will make the explanation taking as starting point the Collet del Aire, which is reached by leaving from Quatretonda on the road to the Sierra.
In running into the first crossing, located 3.2 kilometers from the town, we must take the branch on the right and follow the main road until we reach the second crossroads, where we will choose the path that leads to the Pineda del Avenc, currently full of second residences .Of all the ones that are next to the road, only the Corral de Alberola is an old construction that has been restored and recovered. When you get to the pine forest, the path enters the pines and continues to the Collet del Aire, on level ground first, and then on steep and uneven lines.
The location post of the Collet de l'Aire is a point of crossingcontact of two local trails: the Path of "Les Caigudes" of Pinet and the Senda de la Sima. To start the itinerary, you should take the right branch from the Collet de l'Aire, which enters the Pinet area and starts on a fairly flat and sandy stretch, and then continues round by "Les Caigudes" "of Pinet, a slope that looks towards the east and that acts as a step between the Plan de Peña and the Valleta below.
The neighbors of Pinet have in this slope one of the closest landscapes, that's why the names that have been put are different. On the left, as soon as the journey begins, the Loma de los Pinos appears and at the end of a section it crosses the Barranco de Quatretonda. This path has been preserved quite well over the years because the vegetation does not grow . It is not uncommon to see some plants of special botanical interest, among which we often see a spectacular cobweb, property of the tiger spider, a completely harmless but spectacular spider, both because of the size of it by the one of its web, that usually closes the step of the hikers.
As you advance you can see the Solana on the left and then the cliff of Loma de la Cruz, also known in Pinet as the Peña del Mediodía. From below the bluff you are close to the junction that later makes the path. This crossing descends comfortably to the town of Pinet if you choose the branch on the right, while if you take the left one goes up to the ridge, from where it is worth taking advantage of the height to contemplate the good views of the Valleta and the Sierra de Pinet.
From this point the route begins to descend towards the Casa del Tío Honorio, where it connects with the PRV-172. The Caseta de los Guardas is on the right and when you go down you can see Los Cantalars. From this point of connection with the PRV-172 we will be able to follow its layout until the Peña Plan. After having crossed over the border between Quatretonda and Pinet, having left on the left some lovely views of the Valletta de Pinet and having seen from above some sections of the Path of "Les Caigudes" of Pinet that we just to describe, we will arrive at the junction that connects the PRV-172 to the discharge towards the Collet de Mire, where we can reach the starting point, thus closing an entertaining circular route.
