Exquisite and tasty route to discover all the artisanal and local products of the Vall d'Albaida region, and its production process.
- Local products: oil, wine, liqueurs, sausages, wax, glass, wicker, esparto grass, textiles, jugs, and the garment and carvings, among others.
- Route: Fontanares, Ontinyent, Agullent, Atzeneta d'Albaida, Albaida, Aielo de Malferit, l'Ollería, Benigànim, Quatretonda and Pinet.
The first product that we will discover will be wine, in the municipality of Fontanars dels Alforins.
"Alforí" is an Arabic word that means: barn, grain store: wheat, cereals. Therefore, land of wheat, ferment and cereals. And, later, also of wine. As an example, it must be said that there were 64 wineries in the municipality in 1940. Currently there are only six that combine the winemaking tradition and modern technology. The wines of the Alforins and those of the rest of the region belong to the Denomination of Origin Valencia, "Clariano" subzone. The most cultivated varieties of black grapes are: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Tempranillo, Pinot Noir, Shyraz and Monastrell, and white grapes: Verdil, Chardonnay, Macabeo and Parellada.
