The oldest archaeological remains that have been found here have been found in Cova del Frontó, located on the hill of the same name on the north-eastern buttresses of the Sierra de Benicadell and correspond to a collective burial of the First Age of Metals, belonging to the eneolithic culture. In Sima de Salem fragments of Roman ceramics of late time and medieval times have been found.
